She spent eleven seasons playing for the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA. During her career, she earned three MVP awards and two WNBA championships. Fans even voted her as one of the top 15 players in the history of the league. She was also a star for the United States national team.

Her skill helped her win four Olympic gold medals in 1996, 2000, 2004, and 2008. Because of her amazing talent, she was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015.

Lisa learned how to be a great athlete through practice and smart choices. In middle school, she was the only left-handed player in her drill group. To avoid standing alone, she practiced using her right hand. This helped her become ambidextrous, which means she can use both hands well. In high school, she played basketball, volleyball, and track and field. She was a state qualifier in the high jump and the 400-meter run. By her sophomore year, she could already dunk the ball in an open court.

Her journey to the pros began with a very strong college career. Lisa attended the University of Southern California from 1990 to 1994. She played 120 games for the Trojans and set many school records. She was the first player in Pac-10 history to earn first-team honors all four years. In 1994, she won several national player of the year awards. These included the Naismith College Player of the Year and the Honda Sports Award. She also earned All-American honors in 1992, 1993, and 1994.

Lisa made history in the WNBA with many incredible milestones. She was the number-seven pick in the 1997 inaugural WNBA draft. In 2002, she became the first woman to dunk during a WNBA game. That same year, she was the first player to score over 3,000 career points. She later became the first player to reach 4,000 and 6,000 points too. By the time she retired in 2009, she held several league records. These included records for total points, rebounds, and points plus rebounds plus assists.

Even after retiring from playing, Lisa stayed busy in the world of basketball. In 2019, she became the head coach for the Triplets in the BIG3 league. She led her new team to a BIG3 Championship in that same year. She also works as a studio analyst for Orlando Magic broadcasts. Her life shows how much can be achieved through dedication and skill. From a young girl in Compton, California, to a Hall of Famer, she has left a lasting mark on the sport.
