These plants were not like trees today. They did not have much wood. Instead, they had thick bark. This bark helped them stand up against the wind.

Small, thin leaves grew on the branches. These leaves looked like needles. The plants made tiny spores to grow new ones. These spores were kept in cone shapes.

Under the ground, they had many small roots. These roots spread out wide. They helped the big plants stay in the wet soil.

It is fun to think about these giant plants!
