Before she was a radio star, she studied science. She earned a PhD in physiology, which is the study of how bodies work. She also trained to be a marriage and family counselor. This training helped her talk to people about their lives. She even wrote several bestselling books to help others.

Dr. Laura also had a show on television in the year 2000. It did not last very long. She said that she liked radio much more. She felt that radio was more personal and meaningful.

Some people did not agree with her ideas. They spoke out against her views on many topics. This caused some companies to stop paying for ads on her shows. In 2011, her program moved to satellite radio. Today, she still shares her thoughts through a daily podcast. This is a digital audio show that people can listen to online.
