Some people call the whole area a launch complex. This area has many parts to help the rocket. It has tanks for fuel and power lines. It also has roads and ways to move things.

Rockets get to the pad in different ways. Some rockets travel on trains. Others sit on a mobile launcher platform. This is a big base that carries the rocket. A large vehicle called a Crawler-transporter can move it.

Other rockets are built standing up. They are moved to the pad while they are vertical.

Launching a rocket is very powerful. The engines make a lot of heat. A flame deflector helps move the heat away. This protects the pad from damage. The launch is also very loud. To help, pads use a sound suppression system. This system sprays a lot of water. The water helps quiet the noise. This keeps the rocket and the crew safe.
