Karl Stefanovic is a prominent Australian television presenter and journalist.

He is a central figure at the Nine Network. Currently, he serves as a co-host for the breakfast program Today. He also works as a reporter for the news program 60 Minutes. His career involves delivering news and managing various television roles. He has become a recognizable face in Australian media over several decades.

Stefanovic began his professional journey through rigorous training and early field work. He earned a degree in journalism from the Queensland University of Technology in 1994. Initially, he struggled to find a cadetship after graduating. He also auditioned for the National Institute of Dramatic Art, known as NIDA, but did not pass the final rounds. Instead, he accepted a position with WIN Television. He worked as a cadet reporter in Rockhampton and Cairns starting in 1994.

His career progressed through several different news markets and networks. In 1996, he moved to New Zealand to work for TVNZ. He served as a reporter for the One Network News program. By 1998, he returned to Australia to report for Ten News in Brisbane. He also acted as a fill-in presenter for Ron Wilson in Sydney. These roles helped him build the skills required for major network broadcasting.

In 2000, Stefanovic joined the Nine Network as a reporter for Nine News in Brisbane. His reporting on significant events earned him professional recognition. He received a Queensland Media Award for Best News Coverage in 2000. This award was for his report on the Childers backpacker hostel fire. He also provided coverage for the 2001 Warragamba bushfires and the 2003 Canberra bushfires.

Stefanovic has held many diverse roles within the Nine Network. In February 2005, he replaced Steve Liebmann as a host of Today. He has also been a fill-in host for the program A Current Affair. From 2008 to 2012, he hosted the annual Carols by Candlelight event. In 2011, he expanded his work to include 60 Minutes and ACA Sunday. He even participated in the reality show Torvill and Dean's Dancing on Ice in 2006.

His professional achievements include winning major industry honors. At the 2011 Logie Awards, he received two significant titles. He won the Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality. He also won the Silver Logie for Most Popular Presenter.

Beyond the studio, he has engaged in competitive sailing. In 2011, he was a crew member on the supermaxi yacht Investec LOYAL. This vessel won line honours in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. He sailed again on the yacht Perpetual Loyal in 2013.

Stefanovic has also navigated public controversy and personal changes. In 2016, he faced criticism for using an offensive term during a Today segment. He issued a public apology the following day, calling himself an "ignorant tool." This apology led to a nomination for an ACON LGBTI award. He has since become an advocate for the queer community and supported marriage equality.

His personal life also saw changes, including a divorce in 2017 and a marriage to Jasmine Yarbrough in 2018. In 2026, he expanded into digital media by launching The Karl Stefanovic Show podcast.
