Judith Krantz was a famous American writer. She wrote many books about fashion and rich people. Her first big book was called Scruples. It came out in 1978. It was a huge hit. People read it in 50 different languages. This book helped start a new kind of romance story. These stories often focused on shopping and high fashion.

Krantz worked as a fashion editor for a magazine. She also lived in Paris for a time. There, she worked in fashion PR, which is a way to help brands. She met many famous people in the fashion world. Later, she wrote many more popular books. Some were called Princess Daisy and Mistral's Daughter. One book, Mistral's Daughter, told a story about Jewish people in France. It also talked about art and spirit.

Many of her books became shows on TV. Her husband, Steve Krantz, helped make some of them. Over 80 million copies of her books have been printed. She retired in 1996. She said she had nothing left to say to her readers. She died in 2019 in Los Angeles.
