His poems often taught lessons about being good. His most famous work is called Confessio Amantis. This is an English poem. It uses many stories to talk about right and wrong. Gower also wrote the Mirour de l'Omme in French. This poem is about religion and how to live well. He wrote another big work called Vox Clamantis in Latin. This work looks at different groups of people in society. Gower may have worked in law or sold wool. He once met King Richard II on a boat. Later, he supported King Henry IV. The king even gave him an allowance of wine. Gower became blind in his later years. He is buried in Southwark Cathedral today.
