John B. Watson was a famous American psychologist. He was born in 1878 in South Carolina. He wanted to change how people studied the mind. He created a new way of thinking called behaviorism. This is a study of how living things act.

Watson did not want to study thoughts or feelings. He felt that thoughts were hard to see. Instead, he focused on behavior. Behavior is the way a person or animal acts. He believed scientists should only study what they can observe. He studied how people react to their world. He also studied how ads work to get people to buy things.

Watson did a lot of research. He studied how rats learn to move through mazes. He also did studies on how children grow up. Some of his work was very controversial. This means many people disagreed with him. He even worked at Johns Hopkins University. He was a very important leader in his field. In 1957, he won a gold medal for his work. He lived to be 80 years old.
