Jimmy often played in a trio. This group had an organ, a guitar, and drums. He played fast songs with blues sounds. For slow songs, he used foot pedals to play bass notes. This made the organ sound like a string bass. He worked with many great stars like Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson. In 2005, he won a top honor for jazz. This award is called the NEA Jazz Masters Award. Many new musicians still use his style today.
