Many animals need insects for food. Some animals are very large. The sloth bear is one of the largest insectivores. Other insectivores include frogs, bats, and spiders. Even some insects, like ladybugs, eat other insects.

Some plants also eat insects. These are often called carnivorous plants. They usually live in soil that lacks nutrients. They use insects to get minerals like nitrogen. This helps them grow in poor soil. These plants use many ways to catch prey. Some have sticky surfaces. Others use pits or traps to catch bugs. Some even use hair-trigger snaps.
