Computers have many parts. These parts need a path to talk.

ISA Bus pins
ISA Bus pins

This path is called a bus.

Long ago, a bus helped parts work together. It was called the AT bus. Later, people called it ISA.

EISA Ethernet NIC
EISA Ethernet NIC

This bus helped parts move info. It could move 16 bits at once. This made the computer faster.

Some parts used an 8-bit path. The new 16-bit path could still use them. This helped old parts work in new machines.

Most home computers do not use ISA now. But some big factory computers still do. It is a very useful tool.
