He was a truly great fighter. He is the only man to hold three world titles at once. These titles were in the featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight classes. He won the featherweight title by beating Petey Sarron. Later, he beat Barney Ross for the welterweight title. He also beat Lou Ambers for the lightweight title. This feat was a huge part of his fame.

Armstrong had a very strong record. He won 152 fights in his career. He had 101 knockout wins. This means he won many fights with a single strong hit. In 1937, he won 27 fights in a row. Most of those were knockouts. He defended his welterweight title 19 times. This is still a record for that class.

Many experts rank him as one of the best. ESPN named him the number 3 boxer of all time. He was also in the first class of the International Boxing Hall of Fame. After boxing, Henry became a Baptist minister. He also helped young people at a boys club. He spent time teaching others how to box.
