The Gupta Empire was a powerful group in India. It lasted from the mid-3rd century to the mid-6th century.

Many people call this the Golden Age of India. This is because art and science grew very fast. Scholars like Aryabhata made big discoveries. Artists made beautiful sculptures and paintings.

They even made shiny gold coins.

The rulers followed Hinduism. However, they were kind to people of other faiths too. Trade was very strong during this time. This helped spread Indian culture to far places.

Eventually, the empire began to fade. They lost land to other local groups. Also, people called the Huna invaded from Central Asia. After the empire ended, many small kingdoms ruled India.
