How does it work? Google uses algorithms. An algorithm is a set of rules used to solve a problem. These rules help rank websites. One famous rule is called PageRank. It looks at links between pages. It assumes a page is important if many other pages link to it.

Google also has special tools. It can show weather or track a package. You can even use your voice to search. In 2013, an update called Hummingbird made searches feel more human. It looks at the meaning of your words, not just single words.

Google also uses a tool called SafeSearch. This helps keep certain content away from your results. Many people use Google on phones every day.
