The Global Times is a daily newspaper from China. It started as a weekly paper in 1993. Later, it launched an English version in 2009. This helped the paper reach people in other countries.

The paper is owned by the People's Daily Press. It is part of the Chinese government's media group. Many people say the paper is very nationalistic. This means it shows strong pride in China. It often supports the ideas of the Chinese Communist Party.

Hu Xijin was the leader of the paper for a long time. He left his job in December 2021. He was known for a loud way of talking. This style is called "wolf warrior" communication. It means hitting back hard at people who criticize China.

The paper is very big. It has about 500 journalists. These workers live in more than 150 countries. More than 2 million people read it every day. Some people say the paper shares news that is not always true. It has been accused of spreading disinformation. Disinformation is false information used to trick people. This has happened during events like the COVID-19 pandemic.
