They live in warm forests in Asia. Gibbons do not have tails. They are different from great apes like humans. For example, gibbons are much smaller. They also stay in pairs for a long time.

Gibbons are amazing at moving through trees. They use a way of moving called brachiation. This means they swing from branch to branch. They have special wrist joints. These joints work like a ball and socket. This helps them swing with great speed and accuracy. They are the fastest animals that live in trees and do not fly.

Most gibbons eat fruit. They also eat leaves, flowers, and bugs. Some species, like the siamang, have a large throat sac. They use this sac to make loud calls. These songs help them protect their home.

Gibbons are also social. They often sing duets with their mates. This tells other animals that the area is taken.
