In many wars, groups use violence as a plan. This is called genocidal rape. It is a type of sexual violence used during war. It is not just a side effect of fighting. Instead, it is a tool used to hurt a whole group of people.

Groups use this to reach two main goals. First, they want to make people feel great fear. This fear can force people to leave their homes. Second, they want to break the group apart. This can happen by hurting families or making people feel shame. Some groups even try to force women to have babies. They do this to change the group's future.

This has happened many times in history. It happened during the Armenian genocide. It also happened in Rwanda and Bosnia. In Rwanda, hundreds of thousands of women were hurt. Many survivors then faced hard lives. They often faced shame or sickness. Experts say these acts are crimes against all people. They work to make sure the world knows these truths.
