He is a very important figure. Many people believe he brings peace and prosperity. He also rules over the rain and the sun. These things help crops grow well.

Freyr has some very special items. He rides a glowing boar named Gullinbursti. He also owns a magic ship called Skíðblaðnir. This ship always has a good breeze. It can even fold up like a napkin. This lets him carry it in a small pouch.

One famous story tells of his love for a woman named Gerðr. To be with her, Freyr had to give away his magic sword. This sword was so good that it could fight on its own. Without it, Freyr had to fight a giant named Beli using only an antler. He won that fight. But losing his sword leads to a sad end. During Ragnarök, the end of the world, a fire giant named Surtr will defeat him.
