FlixBus does not always own the buses. Instead, they work with over 1,000 bus operators. FlixBus handles the planning and the schedules. They also manage the prices and bookings. They do this for a fee. This way, many different companies can work together.

Three people started the company in 2011. Their names are Daniel Krauss, Jochen Engert, and André Schwämmlein. They met at a university. In 2018, FlixBus used all-electric buses for a long trip. This trip went between Paris and Amiens in France. Today, the company has over 300,000 daily connections.
