Brian had a very big family. He was one of twelve children. After his father died, Brian worked to help his mother and siblings. He had a steady job in the Irish Civil Service. This was a group of people who work for the government. Rules said he could not share his own views in newspapers. To get around this, he used other fake names. He wrote funny columns under the name Myles na gCopaleen. His writing was often silly and poked fun at leaders. Even though he had a serious job, his stories were very wild. People still enjoy his unique way of telling stories today.
