The Russian army moved very fast. They took many towns in the winter.

Sweden had many forts to help. Some forts were strong. Other forts did not have enough food. This made it hard to stay.

Sweden tried to fight back later. They moved to stop the Russian advance. The fighting lasted for a long time.

In the end, the lands changed.
