It goes from your throat to your stomach. This tube is called the esophagus.

When you swallow, a small flap moves. This flap keeps food out of your lungs. The tube has two rings of muscle. These rings close when you are not eating.

The tube uses muscles to move food. The muscles squeeze in waves. This pushes the food down to your stomach.

There are taste buds on the top part. This tube also has special glands. They make mucus to protect the tube.

It is a very important part of you.
