Ecumenical council

This article covers sensitive topics: religion. Parents can manage visibility in Parental Controls.

Church leaders meet in big groups. They come from all over the world. These meetings have a special name. They are called ecumenical councils.

At these meetings, leaders talk about what to believe. They also make rules for the church. They write these rules down in papers. These papers help everyone follow the same path.

Sometimes, groups do not agree. Some leaders might leave the meeting. This can split the church into different parts. Different churches now follow different sets of meetings.

One church says there were seven main meetings. Another church says there were twenty-one. Even though they disagree, the meetings are still important. They help people talk about their faith.
