This connection sends digital video and audio. It can also send other data like USB.

DisplayPort works using packets. This is a way to send data in small groups. It is like how USB or the internet works. This method helps it support very high resolutions. It also lets it add new features easily.

One part is called an auxiliary channel. This channel helps devices talk to each other. It helps them set up automatically. Some versions also use Adaptive-Sync. This helps the screen work well with the computer.

Some cords are much smaller. We call these Mini DisplayPort plugs.

They are made for small devices like laptops. You can also use an adapter. This lets you plug a DisplayPort into an HDMI or VGA port.

Newer versions are very fast. DisplayPort 2.0 can send a lot of data. It can show huge 16K pictures. It can even work with virtual reality headsets.
