Disaster response is the work done to help. People work before, during, and after a disaster. The main goals are to save lives. They also want to keep people safe and healthy. Helpers may search for people in danger. They provide food, water, and shelter. Some groups even build camps for people to stay in. They might fix broken roads or pipes too.

Governments have the main job of helping. In the United States, an agency called FEMA leads the way. In India, the National Disaster Management Authority helps plan. Many groups also help when governments need more power. The Red Cross is a famous group that helps people. In Canada, a group called GlobalMedic uses many volunteers. They have teams to clean water and provide medical care.

Working together helps a community get back to normal.
