Dimitar Talev was a famous Bulgarian writer. He wrote many stories for adults and children. His first book was for kids. It was called "The Tears of my Mother." He also wrote a set of four books. This set is called a tetralogy. One book in it is "The Bells of Prespa."

Life was hard for Talev at times. The government changed in 1944. New leaders did not like his views. They sent him to a prison. They also sent him to a work camp. He was even sent away to a place called Lukovit.

Later, things changed again. The new leaders let him back into the writers' group. He won three awards for his books. He even served in the Bulgarian Parliament. This is a place where leaders meet to make laws.

People still talk about his work today. A glacier in Antarctica is named after him. In 2016, a new issue arose. Some books by Talev were changed. People replaced the word "Bulgarian" with "Macedonian." This caused a big debate in Europe. In 2021, the Bulgarian President sent his books to North Macedonia. He wanted to honor the true history.
