Math uses a special tool called del.

Del
Del

It uses the nabla symbol. This symbol looks like an upside-down triangle. Del is a vector operator. This means it needs a function to work. It does not have a size or a direction on its own. Once it works on a function, it shows how things change.

Del can do three main jobs. The first job is called the gradient. Imagine you are walking on a hill. The gradient shows the steepest way up. It points in the direction of the most growth.

The second job is called the divergence. This tells us if things spread out or come together. It measures how a field moves toward or away from a point.

The third job is called the curl. This shows if things spin. You can think of it like a tiny pinwheel. The curl shows the force that makes it turn.

Using del makes math much easier. It acts as a shorthand. It helps experts write long equations in a simple way. It is used in many fields, like fluid science.
