You can see art from the 1600s all the way to today. There are also many textiles, which are cloths or fabrics. The museum has more than 13,000 textiles and costumes. This is one of the biggest collections of its kind in the country. You might see beautiful lace or clothes from famous designers like Chanel.

The museum's story began a long time ago. It first opened in 1895. The first building was made for a big fair in 1894. This building looked like old Egyptian buildings. However, a big earthquake in 1906 damaged it. Later, a new building was finished in 1919. This building was designed by Louis Christian Mullgardt. It had a tall tower that became a famous part of the museum.
