He helped launch the channel's color services by commissioning programs like the art history series, Civilisation. He also brought snooker to the BBC through the show Pot Black to showcase the benefits of color television. 
In 1979, the series Life on Earth premiered, marking a new era for wildlife documentaries. 
Throughout his life, Attenborough has received immense recognition for his contributions to science and broadcasting. He has earned three Emmy Awards for Outstanding Narration and an Emmy for Outstanding Daytime Personality.
