Cymbopogon is a large group of grasses. These plants grow in warm, tropical places. You can find them in Africa and Asia. They also grow in Australia and on tropical islands. Many people know them as lemongrass. Other names include citronella grass or fever grass. The name Cymbopogon comes from Greek words. These words mean "boat" and "beard." This describes how the hairy parts of the plant look. They stick out from boat-shaped covers called spathes.

The smell helps attract bees to a swarm. This helps lead the bees back to their hive. It is amazing how a simple grass can do so much. It can flavor food and help insects too.
