Some bits of stuff can start a big chain.

Critical mass

To start this chain, you need a certain amount of stuff. This is called a critical mass. If there is too little, the tiny bits fly away. This means the chain cannot keep going.

Shapes can change how the chain works. A round ball is the best shape. It helps keep the tiny bits inside.

Heat can also change things. When the stuff gets hot, it spreads out. This can stop the chain.

Some materials can act like a mirror. They bounce the tiny bits back. This helps the chain stay strong. It is a very special way to make power.
