His music career grew in a few big steps. First, he sang at a local wedding party. The Naoui brothers heard him and invited him to a club. Later, a producer asked him to record a song. He worked with a performer named Chaba Zahouania. In 1987, they released a song called "Beraka." This song made him very famous very quickly. His music often spoke about love and feelings.

He performed in Paris, Marseille, and Boston. He also went to Washington, D.C., and Tokyo. In 1993, he sang for 150,000 people in Algiers. His wife, Melouka, inspired many of his best songs.

Some people in Algeria did not like his music. They thought his songs were too bold. This caused him to receive threats. Sadly, Hasni was killed in Oran on September 29, 1994. He was outside his parents' home in the Gambetta district. Even though he passed away, his music lives on. He helped Raï music travel across the world.
