Caroline Series is a famous math expert. She studies how shapes and patterns work in space.

Her work looks at hyperbolic geometry. This is math about spaces that are curved. She also studies dynamical systems. These systems show how things change over time. Her research helps us see beautiful patterns in math.

Caroline uses math to find patterns in space. She looked at how certain groups create shapes. She studied two-dimensional hyperbolic geometry first. Later, she looked at three-dimensional spaces. These spaces can show fractal patterns. A fractal is a shape that repeats itself.

She used computers to see these amazing images. This work helped her write a book. She worked on this book for ten years.

Caroline grew up in Oxford, England. Her father, George Series, was a physicist.

She went to Oxford High School for Girls. Then, she studied at Somerville College in Oxford. She earned her math degree in 1972. She won a special university math prize then. Later, she went to Harvard University. She earned her Ph.D. there in 1976. George Mackey was her teacher at Harvard.

Caroline has worked at many great places. She taught at UC Berkeley in 1976. She also worked at Newnham College in Cambridge. Most of her career was at the University of Warwick. She became a professor there in 1992.

She wrote a book called Indra's Pearls. She wrote it with David Mumford and David Wright. She also worked with Linda Keen and Joan Birman. These experts help share math ideas with others.

Many groups have given Caroline big honors. She was the third woman to lead the London Mathematical Society. She held this role from 2017 to 2019.

She is a Fellow of the Royal Society. In 2023, she became a Commander of the Order of the British Empire. This is a high honor from the British crown. Now, she is an emeritus professor at Warwick. This means she is a retired professor with great respect.
