This scent helps them live. It can be a warning to stay away. Some animals use it to trick others.

In people, scent comes from tiny parts of the skin. These parts make sweat. Tiny living things on the skin eat the sweat. This makes a smell.

Men and women have different smells. A man might smell like cheese. A woman might smell like fruit.

Our scent also helps us find family. A mother can know her baby by smell.

Scent can even tell us if we are in danger. It is a special part of being alive.
