People have used blankets for a very long time. In the 7th century, a traveler wrote about them. He called them Kambala. These were made of hair from sheep or goats. In ancient India, people used them for clothes and shawls. Some blankets were thick and coarse. Farmers and herdsmen used them to stay warm. People even spread them on animals like horses or elephants.
