Birds do not have teeth. They have a beak instead. A beak is much lighter than a heavy jaw. Baby birds often have an egg tooth. This helps them break out of their egg. It falls off later.

A bird's neck is very flexible. This is because they have many neck bones. Some birds have up to 25 of these bones. A flexible neck helps birds see things clearly.

Birds have a special chest bone. It is called a keeled sternum. This bone is large and shaped like a keel on a boat. It gives muscles a place to attach for flying.

Bird feet come in different shapes. Most birds have three toes in front and one in back. This is called anisodactyl. Other birds have two toes in front and two in back. This is called zygodactyl.
