She is famous for her work in anime, which is a type of Japanese animation. Many people know her as an "idol voice actor." This means she was a voice performer who also became a mainstream star. She has used her talents to perform in television, music, and stage plays. Her career shows how one person can move between many different kinds of art.

Her work often starts with her voice. She began as a child actor in commercials. Her first role as a voice actress was in the series Angel Tales in 2001. Later, she voiced many famous characters. She played Misa Amane in Death Note and Konata Izumi in Lucky Star. In 2006, she voiced Haruhi Suzumiya in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. This role was a massive success for her. It helped her win several big awards, like the Voice Acting Award in 2007.

Hirano's journey started long before her big break. She was born in Nagoya on October 8, 1987. When she was very young, she lived in New York City. Her father had a job there that required the family to move. While in the United States, she watched a production of Peter Pan on Broadway. This helped her become interested in acting. In 1998, she joined the Tokyo Child Theatrical Group to start her training.

Music is another huge part of her life. She released her first single, "Breakthrough," in 2006. Her first album was called Riot Girl, which came out in 2008. She has worked with different music labels over the years. In 2012, she began releasing music through Universal Sigma. Even during hard times, she has kept making art. In 2020, she posted a dance video of the song "Hare Hare Yukai." This video helped people feel better during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Life has not always been easy for Hirano. She has lived with a tumor in her pituitary gland since junior high school. The tumor is not cancer, but it can affect her memory and vision. She chose not to have surgery to protect her voice. She has also dealt with criticism and threats from some fans. Despite these challenges, she continues to work in the arts. She even spent time in New York to study English and voice acting.
