It sits on a high plateau. The land has the highest peaks in the country. One very tall peak is Jabal Soudah. It is 3,015 meters high.

This area gets more rain than most of Saudi Arabia. Because it is wet, it is very green. You can see thick forests of trees in sheltered spots.

The weather can change very fast. It can be hot in the afternoon. But the mornings can be very frosty. Thick fog can also hide everything.

Many people live in Asir. The city of Abha is the main center. It has over 422,000 people. Khamis Mushait is the largest city. Many farmers live here too. They grow wheat, barley, and fruit. They use irrigation to help their crops grow.

Today, there are new plans for the land. The government wants to build more for tourists. They may even build cable cars to move people up the mountains. This will help more people see the beautiful views.
