Ashley Montagu was a famous scientist. He studied how humans live and grow. He was born in London in 1905. As a boy, he loved studying the human body. He studied with a man named Arthur Keith.

Montagu moved to the United States in 1931. He became an American citizen in 1940. He taught at many great schools. He also wrote more than 60 books. He even spoke on TV shows like The Tonight Show.

Montagu worked hard to change how people think. In the 1950s, he helped write a paper for UNESCO. This group wanted world peace. The paper said that all humans belong to one species. It said that the idea of biological race is not real. He believed that people should be treated equally.

He also studied how mothers and babies connect. He wrote about the power of touch. Later in life, he spoke out against harm to children. He was named Humanist of the Year in 1995. His books are still read today.
