Their children were named Arne, Anna-Lisa, José, Eva-Maria, and Miguel. After Hilario died in 1975, Kuusela served as the chief executive officer of their company. She also held the title of Honorary Counsel of Finland in Manila.
Her later life involved significant diplomatic and linguistic achievements. She married Albert N. Williams, an American diplomat, in 1978. This marriage took her to Barcelona, Spain, and later to İzmir, Turkey. During these years, she mastered many languages.
