"Weapons tight" means weapons may only be fired at targets confirmed to be hostile. Finally, "weapons hold" means weapons may only be used in self-defence or upon a formal order.
Beyond active weapons, nations also use passive measures to increase safety. Passive air defence involves protecting personnel and equipment to minimize the impact of an attack.
