Braxton has many special ways to write his music. One way is called Language Music. He uses this to explore new sounds by focusing on one thing at a time. For example, he might focus only on trills. He also uses a style called collage forms. In these pieces, different musicians play different songs at once. This creates a complex layer of sound. He also uses Ghost Trance Music. This style adds a steady pulse to the music. It allows performers to play any of his pieces at the same time.
