physical science Maturity 11-13 Next article →

An anode is a part of a battery.

It is a special spot for power. Tiny bits of energy move out of it. These bits flow into a wire. This flow helps our tools work.

In some batteries, the anode is the negative side.

In others, it is the positive side. This depends on how the battery is used.

When you charge a battery, the roles can switch. The anode can change places with the other side. This helps the battery store more power.

It is amazing how these tiny bits move! Can you find a battery in your house?
