Anne was a very smart woman. She studied history and many languages. Her first book was called The Tenth Muse Lately Sprung Up in America. It was published in London in 1650. This made her the first woman poet published in both England and America. Her poems were about her love for her husband and her children. She also wrote about her Puritan faith. One night, a fire burned her home. The fire destroyed most of her 800 books. She even wrote a poem about this sad event. People still honor her today. A gate at Harvard University has her name on it.
