The weather here changes a lot. It is very hot in the summer. It can be very cold in the winter. This happens because the city is in the middle of a huge landmass. In the spring, the wind can change very fast. People call these windy days "Five Guests."

There are large water reservoirs near the city. One is called the Aktobe reservoir. People call it the "Aktobe Sea." These lakes provide water for the people and the land.
