sports Maturity 7-9 Next article →

AB de Villiers is a famous cricket player from South Africa.

He was one of the best batters of his time. He was known for his skill and his fast play. He often hit many sixes. A six is when a player hits the ball over the boundary. He could hit the ball in many new ways. This made him a very exciting player to watch.

He also played as a wicket-keeper. This means he wore gloves to catch the ball. He was a great fielder, too. Once, he even threw the ball backward over his shoulder to get a player out!

De Villiers holds many big records. In one game, he reached 50 runs in just 16 balls. That is very fast! He also scored many runs in both Test cricket and ODI cricket.

He won many awards for his great work. He was named the best ODI player three times. In 2024, he joined the ICC Hall of Fame. This is a special place for the best players in history.
