Yazd province is divided into several administrative counties. These counties include Abarkuh, Ashkezar, Bafq, Khatam, Mehriz, and Meybod. The mountains provide a physical boundary for the valleys where cities like Yazd are built. Meanwhile, the surrounding Dasht-e Kavir and Dasht-e Lut deserts define the outer limits of the province. This combination of high elevations and desert meeting points makes Yazd a significant geographical feature in central Iran.
