He joined five other scientists to discuss computer technology in Shanghai and Beijing. This trip helped open technical dialogue between the two nations.
Throughout his life, Clark received many prestigious honors. In 1981, he earned the Eckert–Mauchly Award for his work on computer architecture. That same year, he was recognized as a Computer Pioneer for the "First Personal Computer." In 1984, Washington University awarded him an honorary degree.
