This feature suggests growth stopped after the animal reached its maximum size.

Placerias was once thought to be the very last of the dicynodonts. However, other Late Triassic dicynodonts have since been discovered. These include Lisowicia and Pentasaurus. The study of Placerias helps us understand the broader history of therapsids. It shows how large herbivores functioned in ancient ecosystems. By looking at bone structures and fossil sites, we learn how these massive creatures lived and grew.
