Today, four original copies from 1215 still exist. Two are at the British Library and one is at Lincoln Castle.

The last one is at Salisbury Cathedral.

Even though it is very old, the charter changed the world.

It influenced the early American colonists very much. The United States Constitution used many of its ideas. Historians now know it was mostly for barons, not everyone.

It primarily concerned the relationship between the monarch and the barons. It did not focus on the rights of ordinary subjects.
